Netflix backup after streaming problems

July 15 (Reuters) - Netflix Inc's streaming service (NFLX.O) was available again after a hiatus of more than an hour and a half on all devices, the company said Friday.

There were thousands of reports of an outage from the United States, France and India, among others, on Downdetector, which collects status reports from a number of sources.

Netflix had more than 220 million subscribers at the end of March.

Some users took to Twitter to express their disappointment at the outage spoiling their plans for Friday night to bingewatch shows.

"Friday Night and @netflix are offline! How's your Friday Night going?" one user tweeted.

An outage at Amazon.com's cloud services unit (AMZN.O) had temporarily disabled Netflix's services in December. The incident also impacted Walt Disney's (DIS.N) Disney+, Robinhood, a wide variety of apps, and Amazon.com Inc.'s e-commerce website. read more

Separately, Block Inc's (SQ.N) Square was also having issues, according to the outage tracking website.

On Thursday, social media apps Twitter (TWTR.N) and Meta Platforms' Instagram (META.O) experienced outages. The microblogging site experienced a nearly three-hour service interruption. read more
